Good Boy, Eddie
I remember when I first started writing this book on a snow day in early 2019—the official “good ol’ days,” am I right? After many, many edits, plot changes, and at least a few titles, I’m thrilled to finally share Good Boy, Eddie. Published by The Plaid Horse, Eddie is a love letter to school horses, (a.k.a. lesson horses, a.k.a. “schoolies”), who are the unsung heroes of the equestrian world. Good Boy, Eddie is a middle grade novel, however, my publisher and I believe it is a worthy read for animal lovers of all ages, and anyone who’s ever loved a horse.
Advanced Praise for Good Boy, Eddie
“There is no greater hero in the world of horses than the lesson horse. Meet Eddie, a humble but loving first ride who doesn’t mind teaching the posting trot while displaying his deep intuition and empathy. An enchanting story for any child who loves horses, or should, and every rider who needs a horse in their corner—which is all of us! I highly recommend this book.” -Elizabeth Letts, New York Times bestselling author of The Eighty-Dollar Champion
“A heartwarming story—told straight from the horse’s mouth—about an ordinary school horse who makes an extraordinary difference for one little girl.” -Melanie Smith Taylor, Olympic gold medalist
“Every once in a while, a book captures your imagination, past and present. I connected so deeply with Good Boy, Eddie, and my inner child did, too. Anyone who loves horses, whether you’re 8 or 88, is sure to love him. I read this book twice in one sitting and I can’t wait for you to dive into Eddie’s world, too.” - Piper Klemm, publisher of The Plaid Horse magazine and co-author of the Show Strides book series
